Hello Family!
Hope this finds you doing well and awaiting anxiously to hear the latest plans about our FAMILY REUNION. As many of you may know, our dear Uncle Baheej contacted the Magnuson hotel in Marion, VA with plans for a reunion. He was able to lock in a room rate of $55.00 + tax. However, with him being so ill during the past year, some of the final details were in question and the communication weak. Today, some of us took it upon ourselves to finalize these details in order to make this happen and to do so in a timely fashion since we have just a few weeks before the weekend of June 25th.
Please make note of the following:
WHAT: Aboul Hosn Family Reunion
WHERE: Magnuson Hotel
1424 N. Main St.
Marion, VA
WHEN: June 25, 26, 27
RESERVATIONS: [276] 378-0481
Ask for Sheila or Kelley when booking your reservations.
Currently, the plans are as follows;
FRIDAY [6/25]
For those who wish to arrive on this day, we do not have plans but there is a regular size room available for us to use as a hospitality room. It sits in front of the pool and the number is 2201 . We will provide soft drinks and water bottles but encourage you to bring your own snacks if desirable. This room will be opened until midnight and reopened by 7:30 am.
SATURDAY [6/26]
Complimentary continental breakfast is included with your room. Located in the lobby, they offer bagels and donuts with coffee and juice. The good news is the Sugar Grove Diner which is attached to the hotel is opened for breakfast and has a fabulous breakfast menu. The prices range from $2.00-6.00 a plate. The homestyle food is cooked to order and delicious.
The day is OPEN to do as you would like. Some may enjoy hanging out and visiting poolside or enjoying each others company and catching up in the comforts of an air conditioned hospitality room. The pool is well maintained but is low on lounge chairs. Some may want to bring one or two of their own. But for the more adventurous, there is plenty to do in Marion and its' surrounding areas.
Much has improved since our last family reunion in Marion. The historic downtown has been restored and revitalized to it's original charm. Being nestled in southwestern Virginia, Marion is the gateway to both Hungary Mother State Park and the highest peak in Virginia, Mount Rogers. This allows the opportunity for hiking, biking, fishing, paddle boating, or simple enjoying the view of the beautiful lake while having lunch at the Restaurant at Hungary Mother Park where you can breathe in mountain air and enjoy the beautiful surrounding scenery.
Oh, and did I mention a stroll down Main Street will take you to some very quaint and fun shops as well some charming restaurants?
How many of you know that the drink, MOUNTAIN DEW, is a product of Marion? I was surprised with this bit of trivia myself.
DINNER will take place in the dining room of the Sugar Grove Restaurant. A banquet area has been reserved for us to use from 5:30 until 8:30 where we will be able to order individually from the restaurant's main menu. Again, the food is good and the prices are very reasonable [ranging from $5. to $12.00]. We can hang out in the dining room until about 9:30 but the kitchen will not serve after 8:30.
SUNDAY
The Sugar Grove Restaurant is closed on Sunday. We are in the process of making final plans for a breakfast/brunch meal as we prepare to say our good-byes. However, we will need a head count before doing so. Please, please, please, help us out by letting us know if you are going to attend our reunion. Please make your reservation by June11 or contact Charlene or Susie Jones if you have any questions.
Let's ALL come together to celebrate our heritage, our family and Uncle Baheej who turned 92 this year. God bless him. While we are very much aware that this hotel is not exactly [or even close] to being the 'Ritz', let's get past that fact and remember why we are coming together. The fact that Uncle Baheej who is very sick took it upon himself to plan a reunion is a true testament to what our family stands for ... love and devotion. Please, honor our name, family and Uncle Baheej by joining us during this special weekend and make your reservation, TODAY!
FYI
The EconoLodge is located next door and in fact shares a parking lot. The facility is small but the rooms have been newly refurbished with new carpet, paint and linens. For those of you who would like a 'newer' room they will give us a rate of $59.99 + tax and will match the rate at Magnuson if we have 10 or more rooms reserved. If interested, contact Sandip Patel, (276)783-6031 and tell him you are with the Aboul Hosns.
Looking forward to seeing you in Marion!!

from Hassan Aboul-Hosn:
To all Aboul-Hosn relatives and friends.
We had a huge lost in this Family, a man who left us many lessons of Life, teached us how to be a great person with "Heart and Love" to give us as a gift.
Uncle Sleiman attended a call from "ALLAH", but always will be alive in our minds !!!
